Champagne Friday

I have recently started introducing Champagne Friday as a mandatory part of the week.  Here’s how it works: each Friday you drink at least one glass of champagne.  Simple huh?  Simple, yet effective. Here’s why: As long as you’re drinking a glass of champagne your problems aren’t that bad Silly as it might sound, it’s true.  No matter what’s stressed

Trying to Keep My Hands Attached
CNC

I was in the sauna last week reading an article in The Pitch (local KC magazine) and thought to myself “I have no choice but to check this out.” The article was about a local shared workspace called Hammerspace.  What makes Hammerspace different from other shared workspaces in KC is that it isn’t shared office space, it’s a shared workshop.

Creating a new iPhone or iPad app but don’t have an icon for it? There’s a cool site I found last night that can turn your logo (or other image) into an iOS icon for free. It even rounds the corners. All you have to do is upload the image you want to turn into the icon for your iOS

You Don’t Know What Amazon Prime Is?

I am consistently amazed by how many of my friends / neighbors don’t know about Amazon prime and why they ask me why I get so many boxes on a daily basis. Here’s the low-down: Pay $70 (if you have a .edu e-mail address its free) per year and you get free 2-day shipping on most items from Amazon. In

The 80/20 Rule of Geoff Lilienfeld and birthdayFB

If there’s one thing I’ve learned about myself it’s that I am one of the most focused and one of the most scatter-brained of about anyone I know. My friend Greg coined this as the 80/20 rule of Geoff which states that “Geoff is 80% ignore, 20% extremely intense.” I’d say this is a pretty accurate statement. This is the

birthdayFB’s Google Rankings Makes Me Smile
facebook birthday app

Yesterday’s research left me with a smile. SEO is a constantly changing thing. If you’re not constantly staying up on it as an expert its very difficult to know all the algorithms google uses. So what do you do? I do what I know. I issue press releases, I do a little blog commenting and forum posting where appropriate, and

Coolest Mock-Up / Wireframe Tool I’ve Seen – Free Trial
Screen Shot 2012-04-13 at 11.10.16 AM

I stumbled upon Balsamiq; what I would argue to be the coolest mock-up tool I’ve ever seen. I put together a wireframe for a new Shopify site in a matter of minutes that clearly explained to potential designers / developers exactly what I wanted in a matter of minutes. As you might be able to tell it’s the product page

Screen Shot 2012-04-13 at 11.01.34 AM

Somehow this is free. There’s a pro version but I’ve never used it or even looked into it because the free version takes 7 seconds to install and 5 seconds to start a screen sharing session. https://join.me/ I don’t really have anything else to say about it. It’s free and awesome. Check it out

Don’t Offshore PowerPoint

Lesson learned. I am speaking to a bunch of aspiring / existing entrepreneurs on Thursday and decided I wanted to use my blog theme as a PowerPoint theme. I am also in need of a new virtual assistant as I have more and more VA work to be done and less time to do it myself. I jumped on oDesk
